Levels: Beginner (all genres), intermediate (all genres), advanced (rock and blues only).
Age: All ages are welcome for in-person lessons. For remote lessons, student must be 12+ years old.
Description of Services
Below is more information about what we will work on together in our lessons. These techniques are important for mastering the guitar and for learning how to communicate as a musician. Of course, I like to keep it fun by incorporating songs that the student may be interested in learning, as long as they are within the realm of the student’s skill level.
What you will need to start lessons:
A guitar that fits your size and genre
Staff paper and pencil
Mel Bay’s Grade 1 (for beginners)
Metronome or Download a Metronome App
Free Zoom account (for remote lessons only)
Instrument - Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, or Classical Guitar
Beginner Level - You will learn to read music for the first position on the guitar, finger exercises to improve strength and accuracy, how to use a pick (if not pursuing classical guitar), picking exercises to improve speed and accuracy, the C major scale, minor pentatonic scale (1 position), CAGED chords, beginner strumming patterns.

Intermediate Level - reading music in other positions and with more complexity, more advanced finger exercises, picking exercises, all Major chords, all Major scales and natural minor scales, all pentatonic scales, barre chords, minor chords, major and minor 7 chords, fingerpicking, more advanced strumming patterns.

Advanced Level - sight reading, chart reading, more advanced finger exercises and picking exercises, more advanced fingerpicking patterns, harmonic minor scale, melodic minor scale, introduction to modes, improvisation, songwriting and recording tips.
